The grippy silicone palm helps with handling in wet conditions, and they're legal for match play. They're most commonly used by backs, though any player can wear them.  
Full finger rugby gloves cover the entire hand and are more of a cold-weather training accessory. They're not suited for match play but work well for keeping hands warm during warm-ups or outdoor training sessions in winter.

## Are Rugby Gloves Allowed in a Match?

Half-finger rugby mitts are permitted under World Rugby regulations provided they meet the required specifications - no padding, no hard material, and a snug fit. Full-finger gloves are generally not permitted for match play. If you're buying for a game rather than training, go for the mitts rather than the full glove.
