The brand new Scotland match kit goes on sale this week, having been revealed by some of Scottish rugby’s top male and female players on Wednesday morning.

Macron who have supplied the Scotland Rugby Kit since 2013 have extended their kit contract with Scottish Rugby until 2021. So this will be only one of a long line of kits produced by the Italian manufacturer for the Scotland Rugby team.

Firstly, the new home kit pays homage to the highly successful, and extremely popular, Rugby World Cup 2015 shirts, which were bought by fans in record-breaking numbers since its release last summer, the new 2016/17 collection adds some exiting new design tweaks.

It will not be a surprise to anyone that the home strip is predominantly navy blue, but there is a new white stripe across the shoulders, to go along with the classic bold white collar of Scotland shirts from years gone by. There is an added detail of the Scottish rugby tartan both around the collar and the waistband, a nice yet subtle design tweak to liven up the new shirt. The tartan theme does not stop there, though, with the back of the shirt incorporating a unique pattern to give the shirt an eye-catching finish. Finishing off the home kit are white shorts with a subtle design style of the Scottish Rugby tartan around the leg, alongside navy socks incorporating a stylish purple and white hoop design.

The new Scotland alternate kit for 2016/17 draws inspiration from the popular away
shirts of the late 1990’s, the base colour being white along with a narrow navy blue pinstripe design and navy blue collar. To differentiate itself from the home kit, the away shirt’s detailing under the collar and around the shirt sleeves with thistles.

The new shirts will be worn for the first time in the Autumn Tests, the home shirt will make it’s first outing against Australia on Saturday 12 November. We can only guess the Away shirt will perhaps get a glimpse of action against Georgia at a yet to be determined venue on the 26th November. Georgia usually play in Black and with the Home team in rugby switching to the away shirt this would be an obvious choice for the marketers to get the Away shirt some action.

Both home and away kits go on general sale on the 9th of July 2016 and we will have them available in store and online.

As well as the on field kit we also have available now an exciting range of Summer off-field kit from Macron for the Scotland team. Singlets, t-shirts, hoodies and training shirts are the core of the collection ready for the Scottish Summer!
