      About the Rugby Championship

The Rugby Championship began in 2012 when Argentina joined the existing Tri Nations competition featuring Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It runs annually between August and October, with each nation playing home and away fixtures against the other three. New Zealand have won the competition the most times overall, though South Africa and Argentina have both claimed titles. The competition sits alongside the Six Nations as one of the two marquee annual international rugby competitions and serves as the primary preparation tournament for Rugby World Cup years.
