Edinburgh are one of the two professional rugby union sides from Scotland. The team plays in the Pro14 league and in the European Professional Club Rugby tournaments. Currently coached by former Leicester and England hooker Richard Cockerill.
In summer 2018, the club underwent a rebrand, with the official club colours changing from black and red to navy blue and lava orange, inspired by the original colours of the Edinburgh side. There was also a new badge, refreshed and simpler.
The European competitions have been tough for Edinburgh, the side involved in both the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup in recent years. Their best result was reaching the Challenge Cup final in 2015, but Gloucester pipped them to the trophy.
