The official ball of rugby league
Steeden's reputation in the 13-man game is built on consistency and performance at the highest level. The brand has been producing rugby league balls since the 1980s and remains the official match ball supplier for both the NRL and Super League - the two biggest competitions in the world game. That heritage carries through to every ball in the range, from the official replica match balls down to training options built for regular use.
NRL, Super League, and England Rugby League balls
We stock official Steeden balls from all three major competitions. The NRL ball carries the official logo and colourway used in the Australian competition, while the Super League ball reflects the design used across the top flight of European rugby league. The England Rugby League ball is the official ball for the national team - a popular choice for fans and players alike who want to train with the real thing.
What makes a rugby league ball different?
Rugby league balls and rugby union balls aren't the same. A league ball is slightly more pointed at each end and has a more elongated profile, which is designed to suit the kicking and passing style of the 13-man game. Steeden balls use an 4-panel construction and are built to meet the dimensional and weight specifications required for competitive play. If you're switching codes or buying your first league ball, it's worth knowing the difference before you buy.
Which size rugby league ball do you need?
Steeden balls are available in size 5 (the standard adult match size) and size 4 for junior players. Size 5 is used in all senior competition from grassroots through to the NRL and Super League. Size 4 suits players roughly aged 10 to 14, though clubs often specify what they require, so it's worth checking with your coach or team if you're buying for a junior. For ages 6-9, you're looking for a size 3.
