Two-time winners of the Guinness Pro14 - which is now branded as the United Rugby Championship from the 2021/22 season - the Scarlets are the most successful of the Welsh provinces.
Playing their home games at Parc Y Scarlets, the side won the 2003/04 Celtic League, and the 2016/17 Pro12 and will be lead by former scrum half Dwayne Peel for the 2021/22 campaign.
A total of sixteen sides will compete in the URC - four Irish provinces: Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster; two Italian sides: Benetton and Zebre; two from Scotland: Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors; four newcomers from South African: Bulls, Lions, Sharks and Stormers; and four Welsh teams: Cardiff, Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets.
The league will contain four regional pools, with games played over 18 rounds. The top eight sides in the table will qualify for the quarter finals, followed by semi-finals and a grand final, with teams seeded 1 to 8 with home advantage for the lowest seeded side.
Over the course of the competition, teams will play six matches against their regional pool rivals home and away. The remaining twelve matches will be made up by an even number of home and away matches against sides from the other pools.
