Along with the Six Nations itself, France also competes for the Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy when they face Italy, a trophy created for the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Italian hero who helped unify Italy, and volunteered in the French Republican Army.

The draw has taken place for France 2023 with France lying in Pool A alongside New Zealand, Italy, Americas 1 and Africa 1. Qualification through to the quarter-finals is surely a given for France.
